Default What does the Peru Flag mean?

The colors red and white, which were chosen by Jose de San Martin, The Liberator, are said to symbolize the golden period of Incas in Peru. The red stripes also represent the blood shed in the fight for Peruvian freedom, the white stands for peace and justice, and the llama and Quina tree are important symbols of Peru.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are right Aniitaz.

So far, I know the tree isn't the right tree. It's an algarrobo one but everybody think it's the Quina one. I saw pictures but we are used to so it's okay to say that I guess.

I think it is always important to know the history of the flag. Many people do not realize that flags have a rich history on them. Thanks for letting us all know what it means.

I agree that it is great to know what the flag means. I know what the US flag stands for but you would be amazed at how many people do not know or care.
